Captain's Message

I joined Oake Manor as a founder member in 1992 as a 10-year-old boy.  Never did I envisage that 34 years later I would have the honour and privilege to be asked by Richard Goodman to be his Vice Captain.  I knew they would be big shoes to fill, but I accepted without a second's thought.

I look forward to building on Richard's year as Captain, and I know I will have great support from our wonderful members.

This really is a special golf club with a great social side, and there will be several events where we can all get together to create some great memories in the year ahead.

For the 2026-2027 season, my chosen charity is The Alfie Nick Foundation.  It’s a small local charity supporting a family who tragically lost their son in a freak accident, the family have set up the charity in his memory to help support children who have been in the care system, struggle with disability or have mental health challenges. The money we will raise during the year will have a massive impact on the charity and what it can achieve. Together we can help them reach for brighter futures.

I want to wish everyone a successful golfing season. See you on the course.

2026/2027 Charity - The Alfie Nick Foundation

Established in memory of Alfie Nick who we tragically lost in October 2023, aged 17.

Our mission is to help disadvantaged children in England and Wales by providing them with the essential resources, support, and opportunities they need to reach their full potential. We are passionate about improving the lives of children facing poverty, experiencing care challenges, living with special educational needs, and struggling with their mental health – children who are too often overlooked.

With your help, the Alfie Nick Foundation will work to support disadvantaged children who have been in the care system, live with disabilities, or face mental health challenges. We will partner with like-minded organisations to ensure these vulnerable children receive the resources, care, and opportunities they need to thrive. 

Our mission is rooted in Alfie’s deep compassion for others. His legacy will live on through this work, bringing hope to children and families in need. Together, we can give disadvantaged children hope and a brighter future.
